    Mason’s book recommendation: DEEP WORK by Cal Newport. – I provide income tax services, but I prefer to view this service as something that can be related to the concept of craftsmanship. The highest quality goods and services are produced by those that continue to learn and spend great undistracted time on the things they create. Deep Work opened my eyes to new ways of working that just are not considered in today’s technology driven age. I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone feeling the pressure of phone and email and prefer the comforting state of flow that leads to more enjoyable and high-quality output.

  • President and Owner of Reid Financial Strategies Inc.

    Colin Reid serves as the proprietor and president of Reid Financial Strategies Inc., based in Ancaster, Ontario. Licensed as a Portfolio Manager with Aligned Capital Partners Inc., a dealer regulated by IIROC, since April 2014, Colin has also held the designation of Investment Advisor since September 2012. Previously, he spent four years as a licensed professional with the MFDA dealer FundEX Investments Inc., starting in September 2010. Colin's comprehensive approach to financial services incorporates his life licensing and his proficiency in tax planning, both US and Canada, thus providing clients with a well-rounded financial perspective.

    He was recognized as one of the top 25 "Young Guns" in the industry by Wealth Professional Magazine in its April 2017 edition.

    Colin earned his Ph.D. with a focus on mathematics from McMaster University in 2010 and obtained a Master of Science degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2006. He achieved the Chartered Financial Designation (CFA) in 2018, the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation in 2014, and has been a Certified Financial Planner since February 2013. Most recently he added the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP, 2024) designation to his list of credentials.     Active in his community of Dundas, Colin volunteers extensively. A member of the Dundas Lions Club since 2009, he previously served as the First Vice-Chair of Dundas Community Services (DCS) and was a board member from 2011 to 2014. His involvement with DCS included co-chairing the Dundas Community Food Drive. Additionally, Colin served as the Treasurer of Dundas Youth Soccer Club and was a board member from 2009 to 2014.
